in reference to our friendly debate: pinkerton vs. the blue album

were it not for the blue album, there would be no pinkerton. that aside, there are far more classic and favorite songs from the blue album. say it ain’t so. my name is jonas. the world has turned and left me here. the sweater song. buddy holly. in the garage. holy shit, they are all effin amazing! i love pinkerton, but i don’t give a shit about whether it was better produced or more artistically inclined or sophisticated. the blue album rocked everyone’s face off. and it hasn’t stopped doing so, in my honest opinion!
thank you.

pomegranate, grapeseed oil, and cajun shrimp.

these are my plans for the evening. no, they are not dinner.

i got a fresh pomegranate burt’s bees lip balm. i am totally obsessed with this lip balm. if i can’t find mine for a day, it has to be replaced.

R3, light intense auburn, by garnier nutrisse, with grapeseed oil. it’s happening. i can’t help it. i just got a great cut, but i needed more change. i’ve had virtually the same haircut (although it’s grown longer and longer) for about 5 years now, and i haven’t dyed it in over 2 years. i love the cut, so something has to give! i’m bored! well, not anymore.

OPI nail lacquer in cajun shrimp. i got a manicure with my mom many months ago—when i still lived in san francisco—and arbitrarily chose this color. after leaving the salon, i started totally freaking out about this color—-it is THE perfect shade of coral!!! in the light, it has a fluorescent pink glow that i can’t even describe how much i love! how weird am i? very. it reminds me of this watch that i had when i was about 9 or 10 that was the same color. super weird. i have literally purchased five other nail polishes trying to find this color. the first four were cheap. i thought i could find the same thing without paying $8 for a bottle of polish. well, after four, i paid more than that and i didn’t have the color. i kept telling myself i was giving up, because i had four, FOUR damned nail polishes in almost exactly the same color. but then i came across an OPI display at HEB. holy shit! i can finally get the color!!! for real this time! so i painted a couple on, and finally found it! well, i thought it was it in the incandescent crap light of the grocery store. i got home, polished away, and phblllltttt. not the color. well, tonight i found it. for real. for real real. so yeah. i bought my sixth almost-identical-to-the-previous-five-but-not-really-because-this-one-is-perfect-just-because-it-is bottle of nail polish.

i'm eating gluten free. and now i'm broke.

so, this post is not about my choice to eat gluten free, rather it’s about how fucking expensive it is to do so! in fact, whether you want to eat organic, or whole grain or just healthy in general, it’s gonna cost ya!

i know i’m not telling anyone anything they don’t probably already know. but what i am doing is venting about how i just spent twice as much as i normally do at the grocery store to get good food instead of crap. plus, i just watched super size me. so i’m pretty disgusted with the state of our food in america in general. food, inc. is next. i’ll probably start a macrobiotic diet after that…

ladies and cheese.

yeah, you heard me. ladies and cheese. it is 6 in the morning, and i am about to go to bed after what could be considered a very successful ladies night, that was followed up by a religious discussion and dance party with many lady participants and patrick. the man of the house. i am about to go to bed, and have decided to summarize the evening very succinctly with the following words:

wine

cheese

most (but not all, by a thin margin) of my favorite ladies in the world

more cheese

more wine

a bit of dancing

a weezer debate (the blue album v. pinkerton. very heated.)

the founding of a new weezer cover band with two female lead singers; band to be named “sleezer” with hand gestures and all

more cheese

oh shit, it’s 5 am issues

45 more minutes of things

time to go to bed/what time is it truly reasonable for me to get up in the morning

i love austin. i love my friends.

and back to square one.

the house we were negotiating for is a no-go. for stupid reasons. corporate contracts + bullshit. i don’t want to talk about it.

so, tomorrow (oh, shit, today—-i need to go to bed) i/we start again.

sitting.

i am currently sitting in a starbucks in temple trying to digitally sign some documents in order for billy and i to buy a house. i am en route to dallas for my father’s 60th birthday party, and need to get this done by 5pm at the latest.

firstly, can i just say that it’s about fucking time that starbucks got free wifi? jeez. i just paid $3.19 for a small (“tall” is decidedly a misnomer) chai tea latte, so you might as well let me get on the internet without charging me $5 more!!

anyhow, i’m just waiting on a text back from my realtor about what to put in a specific blank on this offer form, and i’m musing at the fact that, while you may not yet be able to buy a house (in a truly legitimate fashion) online, you can get right up to the finish line! barring closing, you can do all of the “paperwork” remotely. it is at once amazing and slightly terrifying. what will we call it if it’s all digital in the future? screenwork? displaywork? will children remember what paper is? i’m only halfway joking.

ok. just need to know what to put in this blank, not forget to go potty before getting on the road, and try to avoid dallas rush hour. i think two out of three of these things are possible…

photoshop in 25 minutes

so, i have quite a bit of experience with photoshop (hello photojournalism degree) but i seem to have lots of friends that don’t. these are smart, creative friends who just never had the opportunity to be introduced to this beast of a program. i mean, i have done a lot with it but i still have so much to learn!

the dailywh.at just featured a link to lifehacker (awesome site, btw) who has a great video on how to learn the basics of photoshop in under 25 minutes.  i watched it. it is awesome. i even learned a thing or two! so even if you’re using gimp or some other program, take the time to watch this! i think there are other videos, too. it’s good!
