dave’s birthday present to me….!
my friend jamie posted this on his facebook…and it’s brilliant!
thanks for the find…jamie…
damn. i love this song. the video is pretty rad, too.
way to go, greyhounds!
this is probably too logical to be right. i do enjoy the caption from The Daily What: “Here’s a recap of what happened while you were sleeping: Dennis Kucinich fixed everything.”
awesome!
check out this new promotional video for Hope Farmers Market! Dos Lunas put it together, and it looks awesome! it also sounds awesome, with greyhounds’ song “what’s on your mind” as the soundtrack. then, come out on sunday—we’ll be there!
PRETTY ACCURATE
this video from josh cohen (who is named the same as and slightly resembles my friend josh cohen from san francisco, which caused me to do a pre-coffee double-take) is only a perfect description of what austin is in for this summer. bah!

so, in response to the last post, clayton just showed me this video, True Loves by Hooray for Earth, and stylistically it is extremely similar, in a very awesome way! their sound is reminiscent of Yeasayer, and the video has a very epic quality much like the Baths video…
for your watching pleasure, and the last video post of the day for me… promise!
just watched this video from Baths, Lovely Bloodflow, again. and i’m thanking lauren all over again for showing it to me!
damn, i love this thing. it is so beautiful! and the song is gorgeous!
the happy poet
cinema east is happening again this sunday, and if it is even half as fun as last time, it will be worth the $3 to get in! we’re screening The Happy Poet (trailer above) and there will be posters for sale for this and the previous movie, Winnebago Man. i’ll post the designs once they’re up…they’re pretty amazing!
and i am pretty sure i’m getting a pie from Pie Fixes Everything this time…i might not even share.
we went to the cinema
so, it’s not often that i so thoroughly enjoy a movie that i tell everyone to go see it…but that’s what i’m a doin’ now! we caught a late-night screening of Hanna, and it was one of the best movies that i’ve seen in quite some time. from start to finish, i was on the edge of my seat, and caught myself turning to billy, twice, just to say “hell yeah!”

the cinematography is gorgeous—-from the beginning to the end it’s visually stunning—-great color, stylistically captivating, and fun to watch. the music was en pointe—-the chemical brothers composed original music for the movie, and it was scored brilliantly through the movie. i feel like they achieved what Daft Punk didn’t when they scored Tron (i apologize for the blasphemy Bobby, and all other Daft Punk/Tron lovers!). the ebbs and flows of the music went perfectly with the movie, yet there were times when the music was unexpected and super exciting! i could listen to the music without the movie and totally enjoy it.
i actually liked eric bana (traditionally not something i enjoy doing), cate blanchett was great as a menacing character (who has a southern accent that isn’t 100% convincing, but enjoyable nonetheless) and Saoirse Roman carried the movie wonderfully, never losing my attention.
often times, the preview illustrates perfectly how exciting or funny a movie is at it’s best. often times, a preview is right on and gives you a great gauge of how entertaining a movie is. i find, far less frequently, that a preview makes a movie look very exciting and sets expectations quite high, you are blown away by the movie, anyhow. for me, that’s what this did!
so i’ll end my pseudo-movie-reviewer post now. i just want you to go see this and have as much fun watching it as i did!
this is so amazing that i have no words for it.
photoshop in 25 minutes
so, i have quite a bit of experience with photoshop (hello photojournalism degree) but i seem to have lots of friends that don’t. these are smart, creative friends who just never had the opportunity to be introduced to this beast of a program. i mean, i have done a lot with it but i still have so much to learn!
the dailywh.at just featured a link to lifehacker (awesome site, btw) who has a great video on how to learn the basics of photoshop in under 25 minutes. i watched it. it is awesome. i even learned a thing or two! so even if you’re using gimp or some other program, take the time to watch this! i think there are other videos, too. it’s good!

aaaaagh!
my excuse for not being a better and more creative cook/baker is that i haven’t exactly had the best space for the last few years. i mean, the largest kitchen i’ve had was also our living room and dining room. no, it wasn’t a combo—-it just literally served as all of those rooms. plus, it’s hard to keep a ton of necessary ingredients around when you share a pantry and a fridge with two other ladies…but whatever.
i can’t wait until i have my own kitchen! i like to think i’ll do fun little cooking projects like this one! (don’t burst my bubble, i know i probably won’t. but i’m going to pretend, until that day comes, that i might!!!)
wish i could do this.
